-Promises hell for criminals in Akwa Ibom

Nigeria Police Force Akwa Ibom State Command during the week paraded 33 suspects caught in connection with various criminal activities in Akwa Ibom State in the past few weeks.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP John Timfon who is the police spokesperson for the command revealed this during a press briefing at Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia in Uyo.
The criminal suspects comprising: three burglary suspects, two suspected thieves, three child traffickers, 17 illicit drug dealers, one notorious cultist, one fake currency dealer, and six suspected tricycle thieves were arrested during strategic raids carried out by the command in various parts of the State.
DSP John Timfon during the press briefing stated that various items including: a set of kitchen utensils and cutleries, AM Cool double burner gas cookers, CCTV cameras, Electric cables, generators, POS machine, Samsung pad and HP LG outdoor unit air conditioner were recovered from the suspects. Other items recovered were: various new motor parts, one PAL pension gadget, two golden bracelet, one golden chain wristwatch, one golden necklace, one silver chain wristwatch, one lighting chandelier, one set of Sony home theater system, one 42-inch Sony LED TV among numerous others.
The police spokesperson revealed how one Christiana Ibanga with her criminal accomplice sold her child for the sum of N450,000 with the assistance of one Saviour Aniedi.
“On 15th June 2024, a woman (name withheld) of Afaha Atai Village in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA reported that one Christiana Uwem Ibanga, a female resident of Ekamba Nsukara Village in Uyo LGA, lured her six-year-old daughter, (name withheld) and took her to an unknown destination.
Acting promptly on credible intelligence, our operatives immediately swung into action and arrested one Christiana Uwem Ibanga and her accomplice who is her boyfriend named Inyene Etuk Akpan, on 14th January 2025 in Abuja. During interrogation, the suspects admitted to selling their own child in May 2024 for ₦450,000 with the assistance of one Saviour Aniedi, ‘m’. Christiana further confessed to conspiring with Saviour Aniedi and his wife to steal the complainant’s child, who was later sold in Aba, Abia State, to an unidentified buyer.On 23rd January 2025,” the command revealed.
The police spokesperson assured members of the public that investigation which will lead to apprehension of the perpetrators was ongoing.
DSP John Timfon stated categorically that: ” the Akwa Ibom State Police Command under the watchful eye of CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, is not here to negotiate with criminals. Suspected drug dealers, robbers, car thieves, child traffickers, cultists, and other criminal elements operating in this state should take this as a final warning-your days are numbered. I repeat, you either turn a new leaf or leave Akwa Ibom, because if you choose to stay, the Command is watching, and will dismantle your operations across all 31 LGAs.”
