-say colleagues, spouses have died
Staff of Ibom Power Company, have called on the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno to come to their aide after staying without salary for 9 months.
Speaking with The Guide in Uyo, some staff of the company who did not want their names mentioned, revealed how they have been struggling to eat, some explained that their children are dropped out of school because of lack of school fees, while about three of their colleagues and spouses have died.
“For 9 months we have been struggling to survive. Some of us have gone into a big debt that even our salaries may not be able to bail us out. Some staff have died, their spouses sick and even their children have dropped out of school.
“Most of us have tried putting hands into other businesses to meet up our family responsibilities yet nothing is coming forth because there is no capital. We are appealing to Government to help us because another school year is approaching and we do not have school fees to pay up for our children.” One of the staff said.
On the issue of gas supply by Seven Energy, the staff said it was totally wrong for the company to demand upfront payment from Ibom power company before gas can be supplied to the company, arguing that with the current state of indebtedness of the company, no loan can be collected for such business adventure.
The staff also called on the state government to intervene and allow Seven Energy supply gas to Ibom power to enable the company generate money to pay staff salaries.
They also appeal to Akwa Ibom state government to help defray the salary areas to enable them get back their life.
