Members of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council made of Commissioners and Special Advisers, have been groaning for one year now over unpaid contract sum by the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
The Governor had on May 30, flagged off the construction of the State Judiciary Village with a view to giving judicial officers a convenient accommodation to enhance their job delivery.
Finding has it that each of the building within the estate located along Idongesit Nkanga Avenue (Ring Road III) in Uyo, was immediately allotted to members of the state executive Council for construction.
It was discovered that the Governor had agreed to reimburse commissioners once they construct reaches certain level.
The Guide can authoritatively report that most Commissioners collected loans from banks to construct their alloted flats in order to get paid so that they can offset the loans to avoid accommodated interest.
Our source who did not want his name on print said, “This is over a year, those commissioners who collected money from bank are really crying because the Governor has refused to approve their payment.
“As I am talking with you, these guys are really in pain. They have begged the SSG and MD of HENSEK Integrated Service, Engr Uwem Okoko to intervene, but the Governor has refused to listen to their plea.
“I think it is a calculated attempt by the Governor to deprive these Commissioners money as they approach electiones.”
Effort to speak with the Commissioners was not possible as they refused to talk on the issue as at the time of filing this report.
