As Enobong Uwah declares self de facto Governor of A’Ibom
-Council chairmen, HoA members, Commissioners, Governor aides, APC chairmen stakeholders pledge loyalty to SSG
-Turns his house to political Mecca
The Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, has allegedly enthroned himself as the de facto Governor of the state, an act which has attracted council chairmen, APC chapter chairmen and political leaders of different local government areas in the state to pledge loyalty to him instead of Governor Umo Eno.
An insider who did not want his name on print, noted that there has been flurry of activities in recent times, which have made people to visit on daily basis in order to pledge loyalty to the SSG.
“He is seen to be the only one calling the shot in the political landscape of the state for now. He is the one who recommends appointment of aides to Governor and has projected himself as the de facto Governor of the state.” Our source said.
Findings show that, the Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan local government area Rt. Hon. Edidiong Inyang and that of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Hon. Uno Etim Uno, are the ones coordinating chairmen for the SSG.
Meanwhile, politicians have been trooping into Prince Enobong Uwah’s house in order to seek favour for appointments. It is alleged that greater number of government appointees are Enobong Uwah’s loyalists.
“Honestly, before your name is announceand for any government’s appointment especially those appointed SSA, PA, and SA, the SSG would be the one to personally call you and asked you to promise him that you would give him hundred percent loyalty. Once you answer in affirmative, he would then tell you that your appointment would be announced soon.” One of the appointees said.
The government’s appointee explained that he was surprised that the SSG did not call him to be loyal to the Governor or the present administration, but to him, the SSG.”I do not know what exactly he is seeking to achieve by extracting commitment of loyalty from appointees to himself instead of the Governor or the administration.” The aide added.
It was also revealed that, because of the SSG’s overbearing attitude and insatiable desire to clinch loyalty from government appointees, he has, on several occasions, pitched stakeholders against pastor Umo Eno.
Our source said, the recent stakeholders’ meeting held at government house is still generating buzz because of what the SSG did. Our source revealed that those who attended the meeting were strictly people loyal to the SSG while those qualified were neither invited nor given entry.
“Apart from people from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District excluding Ikono and Ini local government areas, SSG stood alone to select those that should attend the stakeholders’ meeting without any input from Political leaders of Uyo and Eket Senatorial.”
It has also been alleged that the SSG’s house is now a political Mecca as politicians keep going there for favour.
People are wondering why Pastor Umo Eno has allowed the SSG wield such power as such may not augur well for the state.
Effort to speak with the SSG, Prince Enobong Uwah on this issue was abortive as he could not be reached.
