The Uyo Liberation Movement (ULM) and the Obi-Kwankwaso Youth Movement for a New Nigeria (OK) have forged a strategic partnership ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development followed a courtesy visit by a delegation of the Obi-Kwankwaso Youth Movement to the office of the Secretary-General of ULM, Akparawa Prince Emmanuel Sam, in Uyo.
The delegation commended ULM for defending issues that unite the people of Uyo and advocating good leadership and accountability, describing the movement as an important partner in the effort to actualise the Obi-Kwankwaso project and a “New Nigeria”.
The group said the partnership would allow both movements to combine their strengths in Uyo and work towards achieving their political objectives ahead of the 2027 elections, urging Uyo Liberation Movement (ULM) to consider the Obi-Kwankwaso Youth Movement part of its larger family in the struggle for a better Nigeria.
The delegation was led by the Uyo Chapter Coordinator of the Obi-Kwankwaso Youth Movement for a New Nigeria, Prince Chukwudi Mbakwe, alongside Victor Udoma, Grace Mbah, Isaac Umoren, Bassey Ukana and John Udofia.
Responding, Secretary-General of ULM, Akparawa Prince Emmanuel Sam, thanked the delegation for seeking to partner with ULM, describing the development as a welcome step and a sign that Nigerian youths were becoming liberated in their thinking.
“These shows the Nigerian youth are being liberated from their mind,” he said.
Akparawa Prince Emmanuel Sam assured the delegation of further strategic engagements, disclosing that ULM would soon unveil the candidate it intends to support in the 2027 election.
He urged members of the Obidient Movement in Uyo to be prepared to join hands with ULM in campaigning for the candidate, just as they would campaign for Obi-Kwankwaso.
The ULM Secretary-General also declared the movement’s readiness to partner with any group committed to the liberation of Uyo.
Reacting to claims that there would be no election in Uyo, Sam said, “Those that say there will be no election in Uyo are deceiving themselves.” He insisted that Uyo must have an election and that the votes must count, even if elections were not held in other parts of Akwa Ibom State.
Akparawa Prince Emmanuel Sam consequently urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and come out to vote, assuring them that their votes would count in Uyo Local Government Area.
He also reaffirmed ULM’s position that Offot Ukwa must produce the next member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, while calling on individuals and groups to partner with the movement towards achieving “a New Nigeria and a New Uyo.”
