The Ogun State Police Command will today arraign three suspects before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court over alleged assault and obstruction of police officers performing their lawful duties.

The suspects are 51-year-old Alaba Mulika, 21-year-old Alawode Iyanu and 29-year-old Temitope Saliu.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, following an investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.

The incident occurred on September 29, 2026, when a police team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye.

According to the police, while the vehicle was being taken to the station, a Toyota Highlander with registration number JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street.

The command said a physical confrontation subsequently occurred, during which Inspector Abolarinwa Wasiu and Corporal Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted.

The police said video recordings of the incident, which later circulated on social media, formed part of the materials reviewed during the investigation.

Following the directive of the Commissioner of Police, detectives investigated the incident, visited the scene and arrested the three suspects.

Babaseyi said the suspects would face five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, alleged serious assault on police officers and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

The command reiterated that the safety and protection of police officers performing lawful duties remained a priority.

It also urged members of the public to channel complaints through lawful mechanisms and avoid physical confrontation with police personnel.

“Further updates will be communicated as developments warrant,” Babaseyi added.
