The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has outlined channels through which Nigerians can report suspected fake, substandard and unregistered medicines, as well as adverse reactions to drugs, vaccines and other regulated medical products.
The agency urged consumers to report suspected violations and provide relevant information and supporting evidence to assist investigations and identify potential safety concerns.
In a video shared on Saturday, October 24, 2026, NAFDAC advised Nigerians who experience unusual or adverse reactions to medicines, vaccines or other regulated medical products to report them through the MedSafety application, available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Reports can also be submitted through the agency’s e-reporting platform on its official website or by email to pharmacovigilance@nafdac.gov.ng.
For suspected fake, substandard, falsified or unregistered medical products, consumers can use the NAFDAC Greenbook application, available on Android and iOS devices.
Other reporting channels include the Greenbook online platform at greenbook.nafdac.gov.ng, the email address sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng and the telephone number 0800-162-3322.
Consumers can also report suspected substandard or falsified medicines and medical devices to the nearest NAFDAC office.
The agency advised Nigerians to verify the registration status of medicines and other regulated products before use. Verification can be conducted using the product’s registration number through the NAFDAC Automated Product Administration and Monitoring System portal at registration.nafdac.gov.ng.
NAFDAC also outlined the procedures for regulated stakeholders seeking to recall products from the market, advising them to notify the agency and follow the applicable recall procedures.
Such notifications should be addressed to the Director-General through the Director of Post-Marketing Surveillance.
The information required may include the product name, registration number, manufacturer or marketing authorisation holder, expiry date, reason for the recall, batch number, distribution details and proposed recall action.
Notifications can be submitted electronically through the agency’s designated post-marketing surveillance channel or delivered as hard copies to the nearest NAFDAC office.
For general enquiries and information about the agency’s services, members of the public can call 0700-162-3322, send an email to reforms@nafdac.gov.ng or visit the agency’s official website at nafdac.gov.ng.
Emphasising the importance of public participation in safeguarding public health, NAFDAC urged Nigerians to provide as much relevant information and supporting evidence as possible when submitting reports.
The agency said reports could help identify safety concerns, investigate suspicious products and improve its regulatory services.
