The Secretary of the Joint Tax Board (JTB), Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, has charged new employees of the Board to be professional, innovative, and efficient in the discharge of their duties and bring onboard ideas that will add value to the nation’s tax space.

Mr. Adesokan gave the charge at the opening ceremony of a-two day orientation and induction ceremony for newly employed staff of the Board held on Wednesday 19th and Thursday 20th March.

The Secretary said the JTB offers equal opportunities for capacity building, career growth and promotion for all its employees as well as reward for exceptional performance.

Hear him, “I encourage the inductees to bring out the best in them. Bring out your talent and potentials, influence and impact your workplace positively.”

“At JTB, we don’t know tribe, religion and gender, but professionalism, efficiency, teamwork, integrity and excellence. Your ability to add value is our core focus.”

“I assure that we will train you and build your capacity. Our expectation is for you to bring on creative initiatives that will add value to the tax space in Nigeria.”

Mr. Adesokan urged the inductees to acquaint themselves with the proposed tax bills which are before the National Assembly and prepare for the transition of the JTB to Joint Revenue Board when the JRB Establishment Bill is passed and signed into law.

The orientation programme featured presentations on history of JTB, Employee Policy Guidelines, Understanding Personal Income Tax Act, Guide to Personal Income Tax Computation, Conflict and Grievance Handling in the Workplace, Collaboration and Team Bonding and Departmental mandate.

The new employees swore the Oath of Secrecy in line with the organisation’s policy.

Responding on behalf of the inductees, Nefishetu Momodu, thanked the Secretary and the Board for the opportunity given them to work at the JTB, while promising that they will abide by the rules of conduct governing operations of the Board.
