The government of Akwa Ibom State has called on the corporate sector players in Akwa Ibom State to partner with the State Government in providing quality education to Akwa Ibom teaming youth population.
Governor made the call during the weekend at the Savannah Energy SEE-IT Scholarship award ceremony for 50 undergraduate students of Akwa Ibom State and Cross Rivers State origin studying in both private and public universities across the country.
Eno while addressing corporate bodies, stakeholders in the education sector, students and other participants at the ceremony held at Ibom Icons Hotel described education as the foundation of progress that fuels innovations among nations.
The governor who was represented at the ceremony by the immediate past Commissioner for Education in Akwa Ibom State, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, commended Savannah Energy for driving innovations in the education sector through through the SEE-IT scholarship programme.
“Education is the foundation of progress, shaping minds, fueling innovations and defining the future of nations. Let me specially commend Savannah Energy for not only doing business in Akwa Ibom State but also giving back to the society through education. SEE-IT Scholarship programme is a laudable initiative.
This is the kind of collaboration that we need in Akwa Ibom State. I encourage other corporate bodies to emulate this initiative of Savannah Energy.”
“Education is the cornerstone of my administration as encapsulated in the blueprint of my Arise Agenda. In the past months, we have remained committed to providing quality, an inclusive and accessable education for all. We have sustained free and compulsory education from primary school level to secondary level.” Governor Eno said.
Earlier in her opening remark, the Head of Stakeholders Relations in Savannah Energy said the SEE-IT undergraduate scholarship programme of Savannah Energy, was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Savannah Energy aimed at giving every willing child quality education.
Nkoyo Etuk further explained that: “The programme include annual award of full university scholarship, covering fees, living cost, studies materials for 50 students each year as well as internship opportunity at Savannah.
