AKSEPWMA to Launch Waste Management Clubs in A’Ibom Sec. Schools

Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA), has announced plans to launch Waste Management Clubs across all secondary schools in Akwa Ibom State.

The Chairman of Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA), Obong Prince Ikim, PhD dropped the hint in Uyo during a press conference to celebrate the winners of AKSEPWMA holiday essay competition in Akwa Ibom State.

According to Prince Ikim: “we will launch waste management clubs in secondary schools in the state as part of our effort to shape the future of our young leaders; this will further consolidate the environmental sustainability of the ARISE Agenda of the Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD.”
The AKSEPWMA Chairman stated that the Waste Management Club will help in promoting environmental sustainability and waste management practices among high school students in Akwa Ibom State.

He congratulated the winners of the Holiday Essay Competition organized by AKSEPWMA and charged them to be good ambassadors of Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA).

Prince Ikim, announced Ememobong Sunday Udofia, an SS3 student from Word of Faith International School, as the overall winner of the competition, receiving a cash award of N300,000.

In the same vain, Emaediong Christopher Umo, a JS3 student from Topfaith Legacy College, Ikot Ekpene, secured second place with a cash prize of N250,000, while Ndifreke Patrick Akpan, a SS2 student from St. Paul Comprehensive Secondary School, came third, winning N100,000. Goodluck Luke Udoka of Federal Government College, Ikot Ekpene, and Favour Iniobong Sunday, a JS2 student from Topfaith Legacy College, Ikot Ekpene, came in fourth and fifth place, respectively and went home with consolation prizes.

Responding, the overall winner, Ememobong Sunday Udofia, expressed her appreciation to the Chairman of the Agency for organising the competition and giving students the opportunity to hone their creativity through the essay competition.

Ememobong Udofia who expressed joy for the agency for adopting her as the brand ambassador of AKSEPWMA promised to be a worthy ambassador of the agency.

The press conference was attended by the board members of the Agency, including Sir Charles Ememobong, Hon. Victor Henry, Engr. Anietie Elijah, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Amos Etuk, Chancellor of the Conference of Online Publishers (COOPA) Utitofon Morgan, and heads of media organisations.

It would be recalled that holiday essay competition focused on “The role of citizens in effective waste management.”
