…Rector Pledges collaboration, donates borehole to Police Community
As part of its policy of effective collaboration and synergy with critical partners and stakeholders, and in a bid to consolidate on the prevailing peace and security on campus towards achieving a conducive learning environment, the Management of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, led by the Rector, Dr Moses Umobong, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Ikot Ekpene Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
On hand to receive the delegation from the Polytechnic community was the Area Commander, Ikot Ekpene Area Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Ogbonna O. C. psc ppa, and other top echelon of his command.
Speaking during the visit, the Rector who earlier inspected a Guard of Honour, thanked the Police for their patriotic and professional role at ensuring peace and security in Ikot Ekpene and its environs, and commended the Police for the cordial working relationship that exists between the Force and Akwapoly which has resulted in sustainable peace on campus.
Dr Umobong promised to continue to partner the Police to sustain the prevailing peace and make Akwapoly the preferred destination for learning and academic excellence.
On his part, the Area Commander, Ikot Ekpene Area Command and Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Ogbonna O. C., thanked the Rector and other management staff for the visit and reiterated the determination of the Police Force under this command to live up to its constitutional duty of protecting lives and properties and ensuring that there is zero tolerance for crime.
He thanked the Rector for his leadership role as head of the Polytechnic, noting with delight that his tenure as Rector has so far witnessed a complete eradication of cultism and other social vices in the Polytechnic and commended other Management staff for their support and team work which has culminated in the many achievements and breakthroughs recorded by the Polytechnic.
The Rector who used the occasion to announce the donation of a water borehole to the Police Community by the Polytechnic, was accompanied to the visit by Deputy Rector, Dr Lionel Ukoka, Acting Registrar, Mr Godswill Ufofah, Polytechnic Librarian, Dr Mercy Ukpanah and Bursar, Mr Ekong Ituen, Director of Works, Mr. Ime Akpanebu, Chief Security Officer, Akp. Daniel Basil and the Dean Students’ Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Umoh.
