The Appeal Court sitting in Lagos has affirmed Jarigbe Jarigbe of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner of the Cross River North Senatorial District election. The court, on Saturday, dismissed the petition by former governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, of the All Progresives Congress on the election. The court also awarded N500,000 against the former governor in favour of the incumbent senator. Ayade lost the February election to the incumbent senator, Jarigbe. The Nigeria Police Force, National Cybercrime Centre, on Thursday, arraigned a blogger, Mienapoma Saint before a Federal High Court in Abuja, for alleged cyberstalking and defamation of character of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and its leadership.  Reports say that Saint had alongside other media platforms and blogs published a report alleging that fraudulent activities were being carried out at the PAP. Amid the raging debate on the N5bn presidential yacht to be procured by the Federal Government, as captured in the 2023 supplementary budget submitted to the National Assembly, the Nigerian Navy on Friday affirmed that it had taken delivery of the yacht. Rwandan President Paul Kagame has introduced visa-free travel for Nigerians and all Africans. The Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State has dragged President Bola Tinubu to court for allegedly appointing a member of his party, the All Progressives Congress as Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission. The Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria, has commenced payment of outstanding matured FX forwards owed to various creditors, report says. A source familiar with the development confirmed the payment on Thursday. Meanwhile, unconfirmed sources said three banks received full payment of debts owed. The banks are Citi Bank, Stanbic IBTC and Standard Chartered Bank. The amount of overdue forward payments is estimated at $6.7 billion, according to the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun.
