President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 50 doctors and 100 nurses to cater for the medical needs of inmates in correctional centres across the country. Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this on Thursday in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Alao Babatunde, in Abuja. The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), said Nigeria’s average daily crude oil production has increased significantly to 1.539 million Barrels Per Day (bpd) in January. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the country for the first time, met the OPEC production quota of 1.5 million bpd since it was set for the 2024 period at OPEC’s ministerial meeting in November 2023. Almost 12 years after it last effected a price hike, Nigeria’s telecoms sector, yesterday, began the implementation of a new tariff. Subscribers, especially on the MTN network, woke up Tuesday to see that the prices of its data subscriptions and SMS have gone up. The Senate Committee on Public Accounts has raised concerns over the disappearance of 3,907 rifles and pistols from various police formations in the country in 2020. The committee also revisited the case of reported missing 178,459 firearms, including 88,078 AK-47 rifles from police inventory.
