Following the rapid spread of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in China, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has directed hospitals across the country to strengthen Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices. Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has frowned at the spate of vandalism of public facilities in the state, particularly electricity transformers. Governor Eno stated this when the new police commissioner in Akwa Ibom visited him at Government House. Born on 23 May 1908, the Japanese supercentenarian was the world’s oldest verified living person, following the death of Maria Branyas on 19 August 2024. Borno Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has announced plans by his administration to tackle the challenge of increasing cost of fuel being faced by farmers engaged in irrigation farming in communities affected by Boko Haram insurgency in the state with 50 per cent fuel subsidy. The Secretary to the Ondo state government, SSG, Tayo Oluwatuyi, has died two weeks after he was involved in an an auto crash. Oluwatuyi who died on Saturday at a yet-to-be-disclosed hospital, was involved in accident on December 15 while tavelling to Ibadan. The Ondo top official popularly known as Tukana, who was appointed by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa since January, 2023, was said to have in a coma since he had the accident.
