Malaria Mortality Returns To Pre-Covid Levels — WHO In 2020, disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic led to a sharp increase in malaria-related mortality, with an additional 55,000 deaths counted that year. President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has appointed the outgoing Senate Clerk, Chinedu Akabueze, as the new Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate. Akabueze will succeed Sylvester Okonkwo, the former Chief of Staff, who has been appointed as the Executive Director of the newly established South East Development Commission.
