Maharazu Tsiga, a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was released from captivity on Friday after being held for 22 days.
Channels Television reported on Friday night, That he is currently receiving medical care at a hospital whose location is kept confidential for security reasons.
Tsiga was kidnapped by an unknown number of bandits on February 6, 2025, at his home in Tsiga village, located in the Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.
During the incident, two individuals were injured, and one of the assailants was accidentally shot and killed by a member of his own group. The gang, led by the infamous bandit leader Babaro, had demanded a ransom of N250 million for Tsiga’s release.
However, it remains unclear whether any ransom was actually paid. As of now, government officials and security agencies, including the Katsina State Police Command, have not commented on Tsiga’s release.
