On Thursday, Air Peace revealed that a man was caught in the act with stolen goods on Flight P47190 on February 19, 2025. Following the aircraft’s arrival at Port Harcourt International Airport, a comprehensive examination uncovered that he had in his possession belongings reported missing by other passengers.

The airline acted swiftly. “The suspect was promptly handed over to the airport police for additional investigation,” stated Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications for Air Peace.

This incident is not a one-off occurrence. Air Peace has observed a concerning increase in in-flight thefts in recent weeks, leading the airline to enact more stringent security protocols.
What was intended to be a typical flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt ended with one passenger being detained.

“Cabin crew members have been directed to heighten surveillance during flights, while continuous announcements will inform passengers on how to secure their possessions and report any unusual behavior,” the airline mentioned.

In a strong response, Air Peace has placed the suspect on a blacklist, prohibiting him from flying with the airline again.

“We are adopting a strict approach against such criminal behavior,” the statement added. “This reinforces our zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that endanger the safety and comfort of our passengers,” the airline concluded.
