Former senator who represented Kogi West Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly, Dino Melaye, has berated critics for questioning his source of “God-given” wealth.
The senator took to X on Wednesday evening to post pictures of his well-furnished mansion and slammed those calling on the anti-graft agencies in the country to investigate the source of his wealth.
Irked by the number of criticisms that trailed his latest post in the comment section, Melaye wondered why nobody raised any question when he wallowed in poverty, saying, “Those questioning my prosperity, why did you not question my poverty then? If you did not complain of my poverty then, you lack the moral right to complain about what I do with my God-given wealth.”
Most of those who responded to his post were furious, wondering why the former senator is allowed to roam free after stealing from public coffers.
One furious Nigerian said sarcastically, “@officialEFCC, you may wish to investigate his previous poverty state to understand the source of his sudden wealth and understand why he shouldn’t be this wealthy at any rate… The eagles should take action o.”
Another one wrote, “SDM, you don’t look good in health. You’re bulky. You’re limping. Your grey beard tells it all. It’s a façade hiding your real pale face. You need to take a break from all these inanities. Life is short and must be well-lived.”
Melaye has come under a barrage of criticism for flaunting his wealth on social media daily, with many warning him to desist from flaunting his ill-gotten wealth on social media.
