The failure of Governor Umo Eno to honour Ntenyin Solomon Etuk Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers with his presence during the installation of the monarch as the 4th Grand Patron of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio has received wide condemnation among the Ibibios in Akwa Ibom State.
The latest is coming from a member of a revered traditional stool in Ibibio land, Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio.
The installation of Ntenyin Solomon Etuk as the Grand Patron of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio took place last Friday, August 1, 2025, at the international headquarters of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, at Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo.
The Guide Newspaper reports that Governor Umo Eno was represented at the event by Akparawa Prince Godwin Ntukudeh.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Guide Newspaper, a member of Akwa Esop Ima–isong Ibibio, Mkpisong who spoke on condition of anonymity berated Governor for failing to honour Ntenyin Solomon Etuk with his presence at such an occasion.
He wondered why Governor Umo Eno as a son of Ibibio ethnic nationality who is benefiting from the mandate of Ibibio ethnic group and Uyo Senatorial District to serve as the number one citizen of Akwa Ibom State should fail to identify with Oku Ibom Ibibio in such an occasion.
According to him, “Such event as the installation of Ntenyin Solomon Etuk as the 4th Grand Patron of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio is a symbolic event that every patriotic Ibibio son should not stay away from. Incidentally, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk is the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium where the governor comes from.”
“Governor Eno should know that he owes Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Etuk a huge debt of honour and gratitude!”
“We in Ibibio land have carefully observed that Governor Eno has not for once proudly identified with the Ibibio’s by wearing Ibibio regalia as a proud son of Ibibio,” he added.
The traditional ruler described the installation of Ntenyin Solomon Etuk as the Grand Patron of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio as a once-in -life-time honour that only few patriotic sons of Ibibio Nation are privileged to enjoy.
The Guide Newspaper reports that the 1st Grand Patron, of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio was Hon. Justice Sir Egbert Udo Udoma while Dr. Clement Nyong, was the 2nd Grand Patron followed by Air Marshal (Elder) Nsikak Essien Eduok as the 3rd Grand Patron.
According to the International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Akparawa James Edet, “Oku Ibom Ibibio stands as the apex symbol of Ibibio identity and dignity. His reign has been marked by stability, inter-ethnic harmony, and sustained advocacy for good governance. He is widely respected across Nigeria and beyond for his stately wisdom, moral authority, and progressive engagement with youth, traditional councils, and the wider polity.”
