The youth of Ibiaku Issiet village in Uruan Local Government Area have embraced a new direction, vision, and strides by electing new leadership. Engr. Ubong Michael Okon and Mr. Aniekan Etim Eyo have been chosen to pilot the affairs of the Youth Council in the community.

The newly elected youth president and vice president were presented today, Wednesday, 15th January 2025, to the Village Head of Ibiaku Issiet, Chief Williams Effiong Etim Udobot, at his palace.

While presenting the newly elected leaders to the village head, Mr. Pius Clement, a former community youth president, stated that Engr. Ubong Okon of Nung Idang in the Nung Ikpa family and Mr. Aniekan Eyo of the Nung Abia Ekong family were carefully selected by the youth from the two sections of the village, Ikot Akpa Ekong and Ikot Utono. He noted that they were chosen due to their proven integrity and competence in various areas of responsibility within the community.

The Village Head, Chief Williams Udobot, received Engr. Ubong and Mr. Aniekan warmly. He commended the youth for their peaceful conduct during the selection process and pledged to work with the youth structure to maintain peace and foster development in the community. He also warned against any individual or group attempting to disrupt the peace currently enjoyed in the community.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected youth president, Engr. Ubong expressed gratitude to the youth for entrusting him and his running mate, Mr. Aniekan Eyo, with the mandate. He pledged to collaborate with all relevant authorities, elders, and youth structures to advance the overall interests of Ibiaku Issiet community.

He assured the youth that his administration would establish a vibrant youth structure that would work alongside the village council to bring development to the community, promote peace among the youth, and support the government of Akwa Ibom State in achieving its goals.
