Following four months down time at the state-owned power station, Ibom Power Company, which prompted media outcry in Akwa Ibom State, resulting in putting on of the power plant, the plant has been put off again. The Guide can authoritatively state.
The Guide was informed that last week Tuesday, following the media backlashes on why the plant was put off, the state Governor, Pastor Umo Eno directed the MD of Savannah Energy, to immediately supply gas to the plant.
It was gathered that on Saturday, Savannah Energy supplied gas to Ibom Power Plant which prompted Ibom Power Company to supply power to the national grid after four months of blackout.
However, The Guide was reliably informed that the state Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, had directed the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company, Engr Camelius Umoh to immediately invite journalists to inspect the plant while it was still running.
The Guide, while carrying out investigation, discovered that the plant went off on Monday night, barely 10 hours after journalists were led to inspect the plant.
It was discovered that Savannah Energy, stopped the flow of gas into the plant on the instruction of the Governor.
Further investigation into the matter showed that there is a grand conspiracy by the Governor and Savannah Energy to sell out the plant as scrab.
Our correspondent was told by an insider that to convince the the people that Ibom Power Plant is no longer working, Savannah Energy was instructed to stop supply of gas to Ibom Power in order to make it looks as if the plant is faulty so that the cabal can indirectly buy it off at a ridiculous amount.
Although Savannah Energy had before now stopped the supply of gas to the plant on the guise that Ibom Power Company is owing them, findings indicated that the Federal Government is actually owing Ibom Power which warranted the company’s inability to be indebted to Savannah Energy.
It was also explained that the Governor has refused to intervene in the feud between Ibom Power and Savannah Energy, instead, the Governor is hell-bent at selling the company-a lingering legacy of Obong Attah which he now sees as sworn enemy.
Meanwhile, the staff members of Ibom Power Company have accused the Managing Director, Engr Camelius Umoh of enthronning ethnicity in the company.
They said since the man assumed office, he has sidelined people from other ethnic groups and selected Annang people as close allies.
For instance, in the Operation Department where incompent nephew to Uwem Okoko (HENSEK), Aniefiok Bassey Sunday is the head, the MD has chosen to work with an Annang person, Udeme Orok whom he uses to supplant the Head of the Operation.
He has also made Imaobong Akpabio, another management staff member from Annang his right hand person.
The MD is said not to hide his intention of replacing people from Ibibio, a situation which has generated bad blood among staff members of the company.
