In a groundbreaking effort to introduce cutting-edge technology to the local community, Mita School, led by it visionary founder Lawson Godwin Hezekiah, hosted the “Experience Web3 Uyo” event.

Speaking to newsmen in Uyo recently, Mr Hezekiah disclosed that the initiative was designed to enlighten, educate, and inspire the Uyo community about Web3 technologies—an innovative field set to redefine the way people engage with the digital world.

“Web3 represents the evolution of the internet, where decentralization, blockchain technology, and user ownership take center stage. Unlike Web2, which is dominated by centralized organizations that control data, Web3 empowers users by allowing them to control their own data and digital assets.

“This new digital frontier promises a more open, secure, and equitable ecosystem. Globally, Web3 applications such as decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) are gaining significant momentum.

“As the world rapidly shifts towards decentralization, understanding Web3 has become crucial for individuals, businesses, and even governments. Web3 holds immense potential across various sectors such as finance, governance, and creative industries, offering users greater control over their digital identities and assets. Through the ‘Experience Web3 Uyo’ event, Mita School sought to bridge the gap between this revolutionary technology and the local community in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State,” he added.

The Mita School founder averred that the event had clear objectives aimed at benefiting the local community through well-crafted course outlines like Introduction to Web3 which focused on educating participants on the fundamentals of Web3, blockchain, and decentralized applications (dApps); Real-Life Applications, which showcased practical uses of Web3 technology in areas like decentralized finance, digital ownership, and governance.

According to him, other outlines were Empowerment Through Participation, a hands-on session which provided participants with tools to set up wallets, explore decentralized platforms, and actively engage with the Web3 ecosystem; an Creating Economic Opportunities, which focused on encouraging local developers, entrepreneurs, and creatives to leverage Web3 technology to create businesses and solve local challenges.

“The event promised to leave a lasting impact on the Uyo community. By introducing advanced technologies, Mita School is positioning Uyo as a potential hub for Web3 innovation in Nigeria. Local developers now have the skills to create decentralized applications, while creatives can explore NFTs as a new form of digital expression.

“Entrepreneurs can use decentralized finance to fund their ventures, and residents will gain a better understanding of digital ownership and data control.

“For students, the event signals the beginning of a new era in tech education, where they are encouraged to dream big and explore the limitless potential of innovation. It also opens up possibilities for collaboration between local tech talent and global Web3 communities, enabling Uyo to establish itself as a player in the world’s evolving digital economy.

Reaffirming that his personal mission is to transform his community through technology, which he noted was the driving behind the “Experience Web3 Uyo” event, Mr Hezekiah noted that the training was not just about introducing new tech trends but empowering the Uyo people to take an active role in the global digital revolution, and envisioned a future where everyone in Uyo was not just a passive user of technology but a builder, creator, and stakeholder in the digital future.

He noted that his passion for empowering his community stems from his own experiences and belief in the transformative power of technology, adding that through Mita School, he has created programs that equip people with the skills to succeed across various tech sectors—Web3, blockchain, app development, digital marketing, and more.

“My goal is not only to teach tech skills but to instill confidence and a sense of ownership among his students. I don’t want my community to just watch as the world races ahead in technology. I want us to be in the race—building, innovating, and owning a piece of the future.

“The ‘Experience Web3 Uyo’ event is a clear example of our vision in action. It wasn’t just a theoretical introduction to Web3 technologies; it was a hands-on invitation for the community to step up and own these innovations. We firmly believe that Web3 has the potential to provide new financial opportunities, especially for underserved communities, and we are determined to ensure that Uyo is at the forefront of this digital revolution.

“It’s not enough to just know how to use tech. I want my people to be creators, leaders, and entrepreneurs, using tech to shape their future and the future of our community,” he stated.

Acknowledging the efforts of contributors, he disclosed that the success of the “Experience Web3 Uy” event would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of many individuals and organizations.

“Special thanks go to Ememabasi Emmanuel Essien and Emmanuel Ebere Okorie, who played vital roles in organizing the event. Their hard work, along with the entire Mita School Team, helped shape this transformative educational experience for the Uyo community.

“The event received overwhelming support from partners and sponsors who share Mita School’s vision of promoting Web3 technology and empowering communities with cutting-edge digital skills. The contributions of these organizations were instrumental in delivering a rich and impactful experience for participants,” he said.

Among the partners are MELD, FrontierDAO, and WebG3ND while sponsors were Injective, Xion, Flap, QBud, Dmail, Viction, PancakeSwap, Vala, One ID, Avalanche, SA World, Elympics, PowerPod, Bluefin, and Arweave.
