In what citizens of Akwa Ibom State under the aegis of Conscience for Good Governance, describe as a complete erosion of public trust on Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the Assembly Hon. Udeme Otong has denied making claim that theb2026 tickets of lawmakers for Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, were already in his pocket to be shared later to his preferred aspirants in 2027 election.
Speaking exclusively to the Guide Newspaper, citizens of Akwa Ibom State under the umbrella association of Conscience for Good Governance said that they were surprised Speaker Udeme Otong despite holding the position of an elder in Qua Iboe Church has neither the fear of God nor any respect office of the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for coming out to deny the caught making with a video evidence.
Conscience for Good Governance noted with regret that Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly under Udeme Otong, an acclaimed Elder of Qua Iboe Church, cannot enjoy any public confidence and trust with a man like Udeme Otong leading the Assembly.
Conscience for Good Governance while speaking with the Guide Newspaper likened Speaker Udeme Otong to the biblical Esau negotiating and exchanging the welfare and progress of the people for his personal gains.
The group called on other lawmakers in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to impeach Udeme Otong for bringing shame and reproach to Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
Conscience for Good Governance insists that allowing Udeme Otong to still occupy the office of a speaker amounts to a total erosion of public trust on Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
The group lamented that the current era in Akwa Ibom State where State House of Assembly members no longer hold constituency briefings for their constituents, fail to execute constituency projects in their constituencies were clear indications that the lawmakers have been given false hope and impression that their return to the House of Assembly would not be determined by their performance and support from their constituents but from one corrupt politician who currently holds the Assembly to ransom.
