The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), under the Federal Government’s Special Intervention for 2024 Flood, has provide succour to flood victims in Akwa Ibom State by distributing essential relief materials to flood victims in seven Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Akwa Ibom State.

The benefiting LGAs include Uyo, Ibesikpo, Uruan, Nsit Atai, Eastern Obolo, Ikot Abasi, and Mkpat Enin.

The relief items comprised 600 bags of rice, 350 cartons of spaghetti, 60 cartons of vegetable oil, 60 cartons of tin tomatoes, 60 cartons of seasoning cubes, and 30 bags of iodized salt.

During the distribution exercise on Saturday, NEMA Director General Mrs. Zubaida Umar, represented by Mrs. Mmandu Aisueni, Head of Operations in Akwa Ibom, sympathized with the victims and emphasized that the gesture aims to provide immediate relief as they rebuild their lives.

“The effects of the flood have been deeply felt, disrupting lives and livelihoods. Today’s distribution is not just a gesture of support but a demonstration of our shared humanity and commitment to your recovery,” Umar stated.

House of Representatives members Mark Esset (Uyo Federal Constituency) and Uduak Odudoh (Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency) commended the Federal Government for the timely intervention. Esset praised the quality of the materials and encouraged constituents to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration for further development.
