Nigerian Immigration Arrests 85 Cameroonians, 5 Chadians, Others For Cybercrimes In Rivers State, Orders Immediate Deportation Of Foreigners

The suspects were apprehended during a joint operation with other security agencies, following credible intelligence reports that led to their hideout in the state.

The Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 90 foreigners in connection with cybercrimes for allegedly defrauding Nigerians.

The suspects were apprehended during a joint operation with other security agencies, following credible intelligence reports that led to their hideout in the state.

Rivers State Comptroller of Immigration, Mr. YI Abdulmajeed, confirmed that a total of 94 individuals were arrested, with 90 being foreign nationals.

Profiling of the suspects revealed that 85 were from Cameroon, five from Chad, and four from Nigeria. The group consisted of 74 males and 20 females.

According to Abdulmajeed, all 90 foreigners entered Nigeria illegally through unauthorised entry points and failed to provide residence cards or valid travel documents when questioned.

Meanwhile, two Nigerian nationals from Rivers State, who were found to be providing accommodation for the suspects, were also arrested in connection with the crime.

However, in response to the arrests, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has ordered the immediate deportation of the foreign nationals to their respective countries of origin.
