…Says sacked chairman wooing party executives with “emergency millions”
The Akwa Ibom State PDP Caretaker Committee has called on concerned citizens of Akwa Ibom State to probe the sacked State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State, Elder Aniekan Akpan for allegedly deploying millions of naira to woo ward leaders of the People’s Democratic Party in Akwa Ibom State.
The PDP made this known in a press release signed by the PDP Caretaker Committee Publicity Secretary Barr. Okpo Ewa.
Part of the press release read: The latest chicanery is to now hoodwink ward chairmen of the party into convening ward executive meetings to pass a vote of confidence on Elder Aniekan Akpan for the paltry sum of N300, 000.00 per ward. Ironically, the erstwhile Chairman had failed, neglected, and refused to convene both regular and statutory meetings at the wards, local government chapter, and state levels until his sack.
The release further stated that:” It is therefore imperative to emphatically reiterate here that no amount of money splashed around can invalidate the dissolution of Elder Aniekan Akpan’s “misled” state working committee, a position that has since been consolidated by the decision of the National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party.”
The PDP Caretaker Committee wondered how Elder Aniekan Akpan has suddenly deemed it necessary to meet with his long abandoned party faithfuls.
“We, nonetheless, encourage the said ward executive officers not to be distracted by the confusion that the burden of sharing N300, 000.00 among 17 executive members is guaranteed to stir, and further encourage the good people of Akwa Ibom State to ask the ousted party tzar the source of the emergency “millions” suddenly available to him to deploy in wooing his long abandoned party faithful and to what end.”
