The Federal Road Safety Corps, Akwa Ibom State Command, has urged commuters in Akwa Ibom State and people traveling on long distance journey on the road others across the country to report any reckless driver to security men at any of the designated security check point in the country.

Commander Lucky Omoregbe, the Unit Commander Federal Road Safety Corps, Abak Unit Command gave the advice to commuters and road users during the week while speaking with newsmen.

According to him, “If your driver is overtaking dangerously, let him know that what he is doing is not good. That is why you should drive the vehicle along with the driver by tapping him to slow down if he is over speeding. If he does not slow down, when you get to security point, alert security men and they would bring him down to his senses.”

He warned motorists in Akwa Ibom State against the danger of one way traffic and advised motorists to use the road right and stop driving against traffic to  avert accident and posing danger to other road users.

He reminded the people of the 2025 “ember” months campaign theme “, Take Responsibility for Your Safety: Stop Distracted Driving”, which reinforced the view that human factors are one of the major causes of road crashes.

Commander Omoregbe, who is the one overseeing the federal road safety corps operations in Abak, Etinan, Ikot Abasi, Ika, Etim Ekpo, Ukanafun, Oruk Anam Local Government Areas, urged drivers to avoid speed-limit violations, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, use of phones and other driver-related causes of road crashes.
