Rivers State Governor Similaye Fubara has dismissed false and misdirected allegations put forth by former Head of Service Dr. George Nwaeke. On March 28th 2025 Channels Television broadcasted a media briefing where Dr. George Nwaeke made various allegations against Governor Similaye Fubara’s political and security activities.
Governor Fubara released a press statement to clear up false claims because he wanted to stop incorrect information from causing dissatisfaction among Rivers State people and Nigerian citizens.
The statement from Fubara described Nwaeke’s claim of being part of talks on Governor Fubara’s support for Bala Mohammed’s presidential run as distinctly “laughable.” Dr. Nwaeke as Head of Service lacked access to such high-level political meetings because his role would not have included attendance at twilight gatherings with Governor Mohammed and militants. The governor declared with great conviction that meetings of this nature never took place.
The accusations against Fubara concerning his promotion of attacks against Rivers State’s oil infrastructure received a firm denial. Governor Fubara explicitly denied involvement with militants or criminal groups who planned to destabilize the state during any moment. Fubara emphasized his ongoing dedication to peaceful practices regardless of what opponents may have done.
Governor Fubara describes Dr. Nwaeke as compromised and claims he promotes these statements at the direction of whoever coerced him or provided financial incentives.
The Governor asked Nigerians together with Rivers State people to ignore Nwaeke’s baseless accusations because he labeled these “desperate attempts” to damage his character and throw doubt on his leadership.
Governor Fubara finalized his speech by emphasizing his dedication to Rivers State’s stability and expansion and asking people to maintain confidence in his administration.
