Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a scathing criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, calling it the most corrupt and dishonest in Nigeria’s history.
Speaking during an interview on Arise News, El-Rufai accused the Federal Government of promoting “false propaganda” on national security, failing to address the root causes of insecurity, and worsening economic conditions.
“This is the worst federal government in Nigeria’s history,” El-Rufai said. “It is the most lying, most corrupt, and most intolerant government we’ve ever had.”
The former governor questioned the government’s claims of improved security, pointing to the continued operations of notorious bandit leaders like Dogo Gide, Mallam Abba, and Bello Turji in parts of Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto States.
“How many local governments are still under bandits’ control?” he asked. “They keep announcing that security has improved, but the main culprits remain at large.”
El-Rufai also challenged Nigerians to reflect on the cost of living and declining purchasing power.
“Can you still afford three square meals?” he asked. “There is nothing right with this government.”
Defending his role in past political campaigns, he said, “Yes, I supported the APC and campaigned for President Tinubu in 2023, but I was not part of his government. My record stands on what I did in Kaduna.”
He revealed ongoing efforts to strengthen the Social Democratic Party (SDP), describing it as a platform to counter the alleged tyranny and incompetence of Tinubu’s government.
“We will build SDP from the ground up. Even if we fail, let history show we tried,” he said.
When asked about the APC’s claim that no one could unseat Tinubu in 2027, El-Rufai responded, “Silence is the best answer for people like that.
“If they think Nigerians will remain silent, they are mistaken. The people will rise to challenge this arrogance.”
He was in Katsina to condole with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda over the death of his mother and used the visit to meet with SDP leaders and rally support for the party’s expansion.
