The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Sen. George Akume, has assured Nigerians of the determination of President Bola Tinubu to review the nation’s economy which he said had king been battered.
Akume who spoke at the weekend during a Thanksgiving Mass organized in his honour by St. Augustine Catholic Tiv Community, Abuja Archdiocese held in Nyanya, Abuja, said the president inherited a distressed economy.
He, however, assured that the president is working assiduously to revamp the economy for the greater prosperity of all Nigerians.
The SGF explained that the present government has taken some critical and hard decisions that would ultimately benefit the ordinary people across Nigeria.
“President Tinubu means well for the country and he is aware of the challenges facing the citizens at the moment.
“Economic hardships being faced by the citizens at this moment are temporary. Government is working assiduously to end the current sufferings of the citizens”, he stated.
According to him, the Tinubu led government is committed to the welfare and wellbeing of all citizens and would continue to do all within the ambit of the law to improve the living standard of Nigerians.
Akume also urged the Christian faithful and indeed, Nigerians to pray for the President and the success of his government.
Noting that President Tinubu is a highly detribalized Nigerian, Akume said all actions of the president have continued to reflect the diverse nature of the country.
In his homily, the Auxilliary Bishop of Abuja Archdiocese, Most Rev. Anselm Umoren, admonished those in leadership positions to always remember the interest of the less privilege.
In his remarks at the reception, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Archdiocese, Most Rev Ignatius Kiagama extolled the virtues of Sen. Akume and said the Church will continue to pray for him and the government.
