Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, the Transition Committee Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, has emerged as a shining example of effective leadership and dedicated service to the people of Uyo.
From 2020 to 2023, Dr. Udo served as the Executive Chairman of Uyo. During this time, he oversaw key projects including the construction of the Udom Emmanuel Administrative Block in the Council secretariat and the modern health center in Ikot Ebido. These projects have had a positive impact on both the workers and the community.
Upon completing his first term, he was appointed as the Transition Committee Chairman in December, 2023. Since taking on this role, Dr. Udo has been at the forefront of driving positive change and development in the area, earning him widespread praise and support from residents and stakeholders.
Under the leadership of Dr. Udo, infrastructure development has been a priority, including the construction and furnishing of the new Golden Technical Block for the Council’s works department. This project, recently commissioned by Governor Umo Eno, addresses accommodation challenges previously faced by staff and supports a conducive work environment.
During the transition period, Dr. Udo also supported local businesses and education by providing a N5.5 million business grant to women, bursaries, and JAMB application forms for indigenous students. His road grading across Etoi, Ikono, Offot, and Oku has improved accessibility in the local communities.
The administration’s purchase of a new 8800 model SUMEC FIRMAN power generating set for the Primary Health Centre in Ikot Ebido-Oku demonstrates the Chairman’s commitment to improving healthcare services. His dedication to infrastructure maintenance aligns with Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda.
