..as constituents vow to resist imposition in 2027
The Political Leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Dickson Bob, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State .
Senator Effiong Bob’s defection from PDP to APC marks a major political shift in Nsit Ubium as the senator is moving with the entire people of his ward, Ubium North Ward 3 in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area to the All Progressives Congress.
Meanwhile some political observers in Nsit Ubium have described Senator Effiong Bob’s defection from PDP to APC as a move by Senator Bob to secure APC State House of Assembly ticket for his son Barr. Otobong Bob in Nsit Ubium who will be recontesting to return to the State House of Assembly for a third term.
A politician from Nsit Ubium who preferred to speak with the Guide Newspaper on condition of anonymity hinted that the people of Nsit according to the long established zoning arrangement in the Local Government Area, will produce the next State House of Assemble member who will represent the people of Nsit Ubium at the state’s legislative chamber in 2027.
Our source vowed that the people of Nsit will strongly resist any move by Senator Effiong Bob to use his son who is from Ubium Clan to usurp them of their right to produce the APC State House of Assembly candidate in 2027.
Our source who is a strong member of APC in Nsit Ubium took time to analyze the political zoning arrangement in Nsit Ubium and wondered why Senator Effiong Bob who served as a two- term senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a Pro chancellor of University of Benin and as a one time Attorney general of Akwa Ibom State will still behave as if the right to hold political office in Nsit Ubium is the exclusive right of his family.
“The people of Nsit Ubium do not want Otobong to return to the State House of Assemble again. We are tired of one family monopolizing political offices in Nsit Ubium. If Senator Effiong Bob is coming to APC to impose his son on us again, we will strong resist that move. This is the same injustice that destroyed PDP. We, in APC will not allow it to prevail in our party, ” our source said.
