In line with the ongoing membership revalidation exercise of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, has revalidated his membership of the party. This followed the directive of the leader of the party in the State and Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, urging all APC members to return to their respective wards for revalidation.
The revalidation exercise took place on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the Salvation Army Primary School, Ikot Inyangeti, in Ndiya Ward, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
Party faithful and stakeholders turned out in large numbers to welcome Mr. Umana and revalidate their own membership, in what many described as a show of renewed commitment to the APC.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Umana expressed satisfaction with the turnout, describing it as a demonstration of loyalty and support for the party and the leadership of Governor Umo Eno. He emphasized the importance of unity and consolidation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We have to do all within our powers to support our son who, by the grace of God, is the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State. This massive turnout by our people is a great show of support and solidarity with the governor,” Mr. Umana said.
He added, “We are preparing very hard to strengthen and consolidate the APC so that in 2027, we will vote massively to return President Tinubu and our son, Governor Umo Eno, for a second term in office.”
Mr. Umana pledged to align with the leadership of Governor Umo Eno both within the party and in the affairs of the State.
The event was graced by key party figures, including the Ward Chairman, Mr. Atte Asuquo; immediate past Chairman of Nsit Ubium LGA, Hon. Ini Orok; Hon. Inyang Unyah; and Engr. Alfred Emmanuel, among other prominent sons and daughters of the ward.
This exercise is part of the broader membership revalidation process officially flagged off by Governor Umo Eno during his recent familiarisation visit to the APC State Secretariat in Uyo. The Governor emphasized the importance of the exercise in updating party records and preparing for digital capturing by the APC national secretariat.
