… says resort to open in December, after failed promises

In what social commentators describe as the third thread of deceit presented by Governor Umo Eno to Akwa Ibom people, the Governor has again promised to inaugurate  Ibom Arise Resort Park in December 2025.

The promise is coming after Governor Umo Eno  reneged on his earlier promise of opening the Park  earlier in May, this year. The Guide Newspaper reports that the failure of Governor Eno to open Ibom Arise Resort in  May, 2025 as promised was the second time the governor could not keep to his promise on the timeline for the project completion and inauguration.

Findings made by the Guide Newspaper revealed that Governor Eno had also  in 2024, while inspecting the project promised Akwa Ibom people that Ibom Arise Resort would be due for inauguration in December 2024.

Our correspondent reported that Governor Eno while on a recent visit to the Ibom Arise Resort Project with  a team of investors said, “This project will be commissioned before or about December this year. And, even if we finish within the timeline, we have to first test run it. We have to be sure we are ready to take in guests; we have to put in the management contract because it is going to be managed by a private organization of international standard that must have won the bid.”

Reacting to the development, a social commentator Comrade Wilson Amos, described Governor Umo Eno’s failure to keep to his promise on timeline for project delivery as a demonstration of lack of commitment in building public trust in his administration.

“Credibility is a highly sought commodity in leadership. A leader who revels in reneging on his promises in a democracy is not worthy to be entrusted  with  the people’s mandate. Governor Eno should know that has not only failed to keep to his promise but has also failed to explain to Akwa Ibom people why the earlier timeline set for completion of the project could not be kept as promised,” Comrade Wilson Amos said.
