The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, winner of the 2026 governorship election, securing another term in office.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 444,815 votes.
The election was held across the state’s 30 local government areas on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The State Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, announced Adeleke as the winner at the state collation centre in Osogbo at about 7:24 a.m. on Sunday.
Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11.
The incumbent governor recorded victories in Ede North, Ede South, Ejigbo, Iwo, Egbedore, Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Oriade, Ifelodun, Orolu, Ayedaade, Ayedire, Odo Otin, Boluwaduro, Ilesa West, Ifedayo, Osogbo and Ila.
The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
INEC recorded 1,010,684 accredited voters, with 1,005,800 total votes cast. Of the votes cast, 985,079 were valid while 20,721 were rejected.
Declaring the result, Ogunwole said Adeleke had satisfied the requirements of the law and was therefore returned elected for another term.
The victory means Adeleke will continue as governor of Osun State following his successful re-election bid in the closely contested poll.
