A frontline group in the South-South region, Niger Delta Network (NDN), has warned the governors of South-South on security and political endorsement ahead of 2027 elections.
In a press statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, John Douglass Ph.D, the group called on the governors of Rivers, Bayalsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta and Edo States to host a security summit with the commissioners of Police and directors of State Security Service in order to have a good security outline for the region.
“Moreso, the movement and influx of both goods and animals into the region must be checked, to know those who are coming with the goods and animals.
“The security checks most be in place in all the boundaries in the South-South region both in waters and on land; the security officers in the region must always be on standby for any unforseen circumstances,“ a part of the statement reads.
The group also called on the governors of the region to be cautious on the endorsements of candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
On the present security situation in the country, the group advised the governors of the region to take the security of lives and properties very seriously, urging the governors to foster collaborations for safety of critical infrastructures in the region.
NDN further urged the governors to establish a security outfit for the region to check activities of criminals in the oil-rich region for peace in the South South region to be maintained.
