Police Arrest Three Robbery Suspects in A’Ibom, Recover Weapons

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command arrested three suspected armed robbers last weekend and recovered dangerous weapons in different locations of the state.

The command, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John,  made this known on Monday, while briefing newsmen in Uyo.

DSP Timfon John said the suspects were arrested on Friday at approximately 20:00 hours, after credible intelligence.

According to the statement, two of the suspects were at a native doctor’s healing home while receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment, while the third suspect was arrested subsequently in the process of investigations.

The suspects include Akan Udo (40) years of Ikot Edem Udo Village; Namso Monday (20) years of Ikot Umo Essien Odoro Ikot Village, and Mbata Udo (40) years of Ikot Ukpong Offiong Village.

The statement further stated that a comprehensive search led to the recovery of the dangerous weapons, including one locally made pistol, one locally made revolver pistol, sixteen machetes, six mobile phones, and others.

‘’The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in its relentless effort to rid the state of criminally minded elements, has successfully dismantled a three-man armed robbery syndicate and recovered arms and ammunition.

‘’On Friday, November 7, 2025, at approximately 20:00 hours, police operatives acting on credible intelligence apprehended two suspects at a native doctor’s residence in Ikot Ineme Village.

“The suspects, identified as Akan Udo, 40 years, of Ikot Edem Udo Village, and Namso Monday, 20 years of Ikot Umo Essien Odoro Ikot Village, were arrested while receiving treatment for undisclosed ailments.”

The PPRO  further stated that the native doctor, who is suspected of aiding the criminal gang, is currently at large, and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

‘’During the subsequent investigation, a third suspect was identified and arrested in connection with the same armed robbery incident. He was identified as Mbata Udo, 40 years from Ikot Ukpong Offiong Village.

‘A comprehensive search led to the recovery of the following items from the suspects: one locally made pistol, one locally made revolver pistol, sixteen machetes, six mobile phones, two big generators, one battle axe, a pair of pliers, and other incriminating items.’.

While noting that investigation investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged in court upon completion, the PPRO also said that the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Azare, had commended the officers for their diligence while reaffirming the command’s unwavering commitment to rooting out criminal elements and ensuring the safety of all residents.
