The Unique Precious Care Foundation (UPCF) has once again reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian service and child welfare as it successfully hosted the 2025 Children’s Christmas Party and Back-to-School Empowerment Programme on Wednesday, 24th December, 2025, at G-Line, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The colourful and heart-warming event brought together about 400 children, including over 100 orphans drawn from four orphanage homes across the State, alongside children from the State Police Children Chaplaincy Centre. The programme provided not only Christmas cheer but also essential educational support aimed at preparing the children for the new school term.
Speaking at the event, the Founder and Chairperson of Unique Precious Care Foundation, Pastor (Mrs.) Florence Umana, described the programme as a practical expression of love, compassion, and service to humanity.
“This programme represents the heart of our Foundation. For us, Christmas is not just about celebration, but about sharing love, restoring hope, and reminding every child—especially the vulnerable—that they are valued, loved, and not forgotten,” she said.
Pastor Umana explained that the Foundation, which has been in existence for over 25 years, was founded with a clear vision to care for humanity, particularly children, women, and other less privileged members of society.
“What started as a personal passion to help those in need has grown into a structured and registered foundation with a strong mandate to uplift lives through education, healthcare support, and empowerment,” she noted.
Highlighting the importance of education, she emphasized that the Back-to-School Empowerment Programme was deliberately designed to give children from vulnerable backgrounds a sense of dignity, confidence, and equal opportunity.
“Education remains one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. By supporting these children as they return to school, we are investing in their future and in the future of our society,”
Pastor Umana stated.
She disclosed that over 150 orphaned children who benefited from the programme were drawn from four orphanage homes across the state, namely: Mother Charles Walker Children’s Home, Anua (Uyo LGA); Friends of the Needy Foster Home, Okobo LGA; Motherless Babies Home, Mkpok (Onna LGA); and Holy Family Sisters of the Needy Orphanage, Ikpe Ikot Ankon (Ini LGA).
According to her, it has become a consistent tradition of the Foundation to celebrate Christmas with children in orphanage homes in the same manner as biological children, reassuring them of love, acceptance, and hope for a brighter future.
The Special Guest of Honour, Hon. Inyang Unya, commended Pastor Umana and members of the Unique Precious Care Foundation for their selfless sacrifices and unwavering dedication to the welfare of children and the less privileged in society.
“What we see here today is true service to humanity. The consistency, passion, and impact of this Foundation are worthy of commendation and support,” he said, urging other individuals and organizations to emulate such noble initiatives.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Permanent Secretary, State Universal Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Roseline A. Mfon; Dr. Etuk Akpan, Dr. Kapnie Umana, representatives of relevant institutions, parents, caregivers, volunteers, partners of the Foundation, and other well-wishers.
Pastor Umana expressed deep appreciation to her husband and chief supporter, Mr. Umana Okon Umana, as well as volunteers, donors, partners, and well-wishers whose sustained support has enabled the Foundation to maintain its humanitarian interventions over the years.
Addressing the children, she encouraged them to remain focused, dream big, and pursue excellence, assuring them that the Foundation believes strongly in their potential and future.
The programme featured goodwill messages, distribution of school materials and Christmas gifts, games, and other festive activities, leaving lasting smiles on the faces of the children and further reinforcing the Unique Precious Care Foundation’s mission of making meaningful and lasting impact in society.
