..urges A’Ibomites to disregard governor’s position on zoning

By the Guide Newspaper

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Aniekan Umanah has again come out to counter governor Umo Eno’s position on zoning of political offices in Akwa Ibom State.

Mr. Aniekan Umanah who was responding to questions on Premium FM radio programme last Monday said: “Do not quote Govemor Umo Eno out of Context, the Govemor never said there’s no zoning in Akwa Ibom State, he only gave an advisory to aspirants to check the political temperature in their areas before buying forms.”
It would be recalled that Governor Umo Eno in a recent event in the state had promised to keep the political agreement that he had with political office holders in the state who defected with him to APC in 2025.

Mr. Aniekan Umanah has in recent time found countering the governor’s statements and making claims contrary to what the governor had said to the people a development that further puts the credibility of Governor Umo Eno in doubt.

The Guide Newspaper reports that many of those political officers holders whom the governor promise to return in 2027 are not favoured with the long established zoning arrangement in their local government areas, federal constituencies and Senatorial Districts.
Governor Umo Eno’s promise to return political office holders in 2027 inline with the agreement he had with them has sparked various reactions from political analysts and public affairs commentators in the state.

Many analysts see such agreement as undemocratic and a deliberate attempt to endorse mediocrity in public service. Some analysts believe that such endorsement does not encourage accountability in governance and makes mockery of true democratic process where the will of the electorate is allowed to prevail.
