The Vice-Chancellor, University of Uyo, Prof. Christopher N. Ekong, has handed over 10 brand new official vehicles acquired by the University to the principal officers, among other top- ranking officers in the University.
The presentation held today Friday, July 24, 2026 at the foyer of the Central Administrative Block, Main Campus, Nwaniba Road, was witnessed by members of the University Community.
Briefing the newsmen at the ceremony, Prof. Ekong said, the acquisition of the vehicles was part of management’s commitment to enhance administrative efficiency and provide necessary mobility for the smooth running of the University.
He expressed optimism that the new vehicles would enable the officers to discharge their responsibilities more effectively, especially in the areas of representation and day-to-day administration across the University campuses and beyond.
The recipients include: the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Enobong E. Ikpeme; Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Prof. Iniobong Uko; the Bursar, Dr. Moses Akpan; University Librarian, Dr. Thomas Adigun.
Others were the President, UNIUYO Women Association, Mrs. Idara Ekong; Provost, College of Health Sciences, Prof. Dianabasi Eduwem; Dean, Postgraduate School, Prof. Kenneth Opara; Dean, Faculty of Communication & Media Studies, Prof. Ashong Ashong; Abuja Liaison Office; and one vehicle reserved for the Governing Council.
Members of Management who received the vehicles expressed appreciation to the University authority for the gesture, describing it as timely and a morale booster that will improve productivity.
The provision of the vehicles is in line with ongoing efforts by the Prof. Christopher N. Ekong’s administration to strengthen infrastructure and staff welfare, thereby translating the renewal, restoration and transformation agenda into action.
