…EKPERIKPE EKPO IS ALREADY PICTURING HIMSELF AS GOVERNOR COME 2031 – RT. HON. FRANCIS
There were palpable fears within circles of appointees of the government of Akwa Ibom State last week following the decision of the Minister of Gas, Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo to throw the first signal about the “No Nonsense” stance his administration will take in disciplining officials of government, should he be elected as Governor of Akwa Ibom State, come 2031.
The Minister who vowed that he will probe the Chairman of Abak Local Government Chairman, Mrs Ime Charles for her disrespectful absence at a grand rally by the youth of Abak, Etim Ekpo and Ika Federal Constituency, maintained that he will deploy Federal might and state might to achieve his aims.
Ekperikpe Ekpo who has been rumoured to be one of the favourites for the 2031 governorship job in Akwa Ibom State by the Aso Rock cabal has also been accused by his constituents for failing to attract tangible development projects to Akwa Ibom State and even his home Local Government – Ika.
Last month, youths of Ika and social media influencers begun a campaign of making videos seeking to draw attention to the fact that Ika Local government area has not had light for at least 18 years now, tracing the blackout to the unavailability of transformers in major villages in Ika.
In the wake of the growing campaign, Akwa Ibom people had begun comparing Ekperikpe Ekpo’s stewardship to that of Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem who is also from the area who has used his office to facilitate jobs, institute foreign postgraduate scholarships and donated cars and business grants to Annang indigenes across Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district.
In the meantime, Rt. Hon. Akan Charles has said with the video where the Honourable Minister had made threatening remarks about an elected official at a public event, it is best to conclude Ekperikpe Ekpo is already seeing himself as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State awaiting swearing-in in 2031.
The former leader of legislature at the grassroots while speaking to the Guide Newspaper on a phone interview said “Publisher, you can see that your man Ekperikpe Ekpo is already seeing himself as awaiting swearing-in. I think this is because he is said to have a strong relationship with Tinubu and some Aso Rock Cabal. This is also why I heard that Akpabio could not remove him as Minister even when he has boycotted Akpabio’s meetings as Senate President several times” he said.
