…Eno Fixes October 2 Resumption For Successful Candidates
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has ordered the immediate release of appointment letters to 4,000 successful candidates in the state’s recent civil service recruitment exercise.
The directive, announced on Friday, September 18, 2026, comes days after The Guide Newspaper raised questions over the handling of the recruitment exercise and the delay in communicating its outcome to applicants.
The announcement was made at the Government House, Uyo, during the presentation of the recruitment report by the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Commission, Mrs Ekerebong Umoh.
Under the directive, the appointment letters will be dated October 1, 2026, while the newly recruited civil servants are to resume duties on October 2, with October 1 being a national public holiday.
The 4,000 appointments announced by the government represent the latest official development in the recruitment exercise, which had attracted considerable attention from applicants awaiting the conclusion of the process.
The development also comes shortly after the Head of Civil Service, Mrs Elsie Peters, announced a total figure of 7,069 personnel recruited by the state government across various sectors.
With the Governor’s latest directive, the recruitment process has now moved from the stage of waiting to the formal issuance of appointment letters, with thousands of successful candidates expected to receive their employment documents ahead of the October 2 resumption date.
