Defending champion, Bright Bassey representing Ikot Ekpene local governmeEdint area will face his elder brother, Wisdom Bassey from Uruan local government area in the male table tennis final of the ongoing Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival.
It will be the first time in the history of the sports festival that two brothers are stacked up against each other in the final.
Bright Bassey, poached by Ikot Ekpene won the final last year, and got to this year’s final following his semifinal victory over his opponent from Etinan, while his brother, Wisdom Bassey defeated his opponent from Onna to reach the final.
Bright who won a silver medal at the last Niger Delta Games in Benin City, Edo State and represented Akwa Ibom at the National Youth Games, said he was happy to face his brother in the final, expressing confidence he will successfully defend his title.
“I am happy to get to the final again, the semifinal was tough, but I won it. Facing my brother in the final is a thing of joy, but I am sure I will beat him,” he said.
Meanwhile in the female category, Goodness Attat from Onna defeated Esther Okon from Mkpat Enin in the semifinal to set a final clash against Edidiong Emmanuel from Itu local government area.
