The chairman of Nsit Ubium local government area, Hon. Alfred Charles and that of Mkpat Enin local government area, Engr Emmanuel Inyang, have come under fire by the Akwa Ibom State Hour of Assembly for underperformance.

Nsit Ubium local government area is where the Governor is hailed from while Mkpat Enin local government area is where the brother to his late wife is he chairman.

It can be recalled that there was a rowdy session in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly on Tuesday as lawmakers engaged in heated exchanges over the poor performance of some local government areas in the state over the past two years.

The debate in the chamber came as lawmakers considered the report in the Committee of the Whole, after the House Leader, Otobong Bob, questioned why Nsit Ubium, his home local government area, was listed among the underperforming local governments in the report of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Other underperforming local government areas listed in the Committee’s report, as read by the Chairman, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung, include Mkpat Enin, Abak, Esit Eket, and Udung Uko.

Rt. Hon. Idung’s report read during plenary held at the Assembly complex along Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, followed the completion of the local government tour his committee embarked across the state from June to July.

However, further investigation by The Guide indicated that the chairman has been allegedly sharing council funds to stakeholders in order to have a good record before the Governor for a second term.
