The Akwa Ibom State Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Elsie Peters has allegedly blocked special promotion for civil servants in the state.
The special promotion is a reward system introduced by the state government as appreciation to civil servants who have demonstrated exceptional showmanship in service delivery within the civil service.
The Guide was informed that the selection process for civil servants who merited special promotion was completed, names compiled by permanent secretaries of different ministries and submitted to the HOCS for approval yet she rebuffed with no further directive on the issue.
It can be recalled that the Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Elsie Peters is said to be a beneficiary of acting appointment in 2020 and also special promotion in 2024.
There are insinuations that the Mrs. Peters may be playing a script by powers that be within the system.
However, some civil servants who did not want their names on print, expressed displeasure over the action of the number civil servant in the state.
The described her action as highly disappointing, and wished such does not happen again.
