-Frowns against imposition of candidates by Governor
A Non-Governmental Organization known as Project Trackers, has rated member representing Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon.Obong Paul Ekpo as lowest in representation among lawmakers from the South South region of the country.
The NGO described Paul Ekpo as a man who lacks legislative experience and understanding of the second arm of government.
Speaking in Uyo, the representative of the NGO, Jackson Loveday, said it www disappointing to always see people who should make a difference in leadership, being lackadaisical to their elected responsibilities.
Mr. Jack, said that Paul Ekpo was examined under three categories of representation: lawmaking, empowerment and attraction of federal government projects.
The NGO said in all the three categories, Paul Ekpo was found wanting.
“For instance, we have come to know that when the cry against Paul Ekpo’s poor performance became intense, he rushed to the National Assembly, presented three bills and then slept off without pushing further for those bills to pass third reading.
” We discovered that he was just doing that to calm nerves. He never had any intention to actually push for he actualization of those bills. With what we have seen, we can boldly say that Paul Ekpo is a passive member of House of Representatives.
“With this kind of assessment, we wonder what busis the state Governor, Pastor Umo Eno used to impose Paul Ekpo on the people of his Federal Constituency”, Jack said.
The NGO noted that the Governor is unfair to the electorate, whom they believed could have been given a chance to make their choice.
