Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has been honoured in New York by world leaders, business executives and prominent Nigerians who gathered to celebrate his life, leadership and legacy.
The event, organised by the Chief Executive Officer of Mutandis Africa, Chinelo Anohu, featured tributes to the former Nigerian leader from former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley.
Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, disclosed the event in a post on her official X handle on Tuesday.
Among those who attended were Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed; Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II; President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), George Elombi; and Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony Elumelu.
Other prominent figures also attended the gathering in New York, which brought together political and business leaders to honour Obasanjo and reflect on his contributions and legacy.
