…Accuses Commissioners, Aides of Sabotaging Governor’s Efforts

Prophet Ekong Ituen has urged Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, to intensify efforts to address hunger and hardship in the state, alleging that some commissioners and aides are undermining the administration’s efforts.
Ituen made the call in a statement dated August 27, 2026, published on his Facebook page following his recent visit to Akwa Ibom State for missionary work.
The cleric, founder of Christ Deliverance Ministries (CDM), Lagos, and a known commentator on political and national issues, described Eno as a leader with good intentions for the people of Akwa Ibom but expressed concern over what he described as the level of hunger in the state.
“You are a good man with good intentions for Akwa Ibomites but do something about hunger in the State because there is so much hunger in the land,” Ituen said.
He alleged that some members of the governor’s cabinet and aides were frustrating efforts to tackle hardship in the state and urged Eno to examine their activities.
“You have tried your best to eradicate hunger but some of your commissioners and aids are sabotaging your efforts,” he said.
Ituen further urged the governor to scrutinise the activities of his appointees, warning that his efforts could be undermined by those unable to effectively support and defend his policies.
“I urge you to look into the activities of these commissioners and aids so that your efforts will not be in futility, because most of them could not defend you and your efforts in your absence,” he said.
Despite his concerns over hunger, the cleric commended the Eno administration for its infrastructure and housing interventions, particularly the ongoing transformation of Victor Attah International Airport.
Ituen said his recent visit to the state for missionary work gave him an opportunity to see some of the projects being undertaken by the administration.
“Recently, I was in Akwa Ibom State for Missionary work, I saw an airport that made me look twice. Victor Attah International Airport is being transformed into a gateway to the world — the finest of its kind in Nigeria today,” he said.
He also highlighted the development of an aviation village and the ongoing work on the airport terminal.
“International flights, an aviation village rising beside it. A terminal that would not look out of place anywhere on earth. I stood on that tarmac and asked myself, quietly, ‘Is this truly Akwa Ibom?’” Ituen said.
The cleric also praised the administration’s housing intervention for poor and vulnerable residents, citing projects in his community, Ikot Nkan in Onna Local Government Area of the state.
“I saw the homes. Homes built for the poor and the vulnerable. Brick and cement standing where there was nothing, and this one struck me personally: In my own village, Ikot Nkan in ONNA, Akwa Ibom State, I saw the impact with my own eyes, Two beautiful homes built for the poor,” he said.
According to Ituen, development should not be measured only by major infrastructure projects but also by the impact of government interventions on vulnerable citizens.
“An airport may announce a state to the world. But a home given to a forgotten family announces government to the forgotten,” he said.
He described this as the mark of leadership that connects major development projects with the needs of ordinary citizens.
“This is the mark of true leadership, as true leadership must touch both the skyline and the soil,” Ituen said.
He added that acknowledging positive developments while speaking out on issues requiring attention was part of his responsibility.
“Let it be known to all that a Prophet who sees good and stays silent has failed his calling, as much as one who sees evil and says nothing,” he said.
