The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem, has commissioned a newly constructed and furnished classroom building with offices at Community Comprehensive College, Ikot Inyang, in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The project, according to Idem, is part of his continued intervention in the education sector aimed at improving learning facilities across the federal constituency.

Speaking on the project, Idem said education remained one of the most enduring investments that could be made in the future of the people, noting that providing safe, modern and conducive learning environments would strengthen teaching and learning.

He said the intervention was designed to address some of the infrastructure needs of Community Comprehensive College and provide students and teachers with a more suitable environment for academic and personal development.

Idem, who was represented at the commissioning by the immediate past Executive Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Council, Hon. Dr Kingsley Frank, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting educational institutions across Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency.

He expressed appreciation to the school management, students, parents and stakeholders in Ikot Inyang for their reception and support for the project.

The federal lawmaker urged the school community to take ownership of the facility by protecting and maintaining it for the benefit of present and future students.

“Every public project belongs to the people, and its sustainability depends on our collective commitment to protecting it,” he said.

Idem said the commissioning was part of a sustained effort to improve education infrastructure across the constituency.

He noted that within the preceding two weeks, he had also commissioned a newly constructed and furnished storey classroom block and another classroom block at Western Annang Secondary Commercial School, as well as a classroom block at QIC Central School, Ikot Akpa Nkuk.

He said the projects were not merely about constructing structures but about creating better learning conditions for children and teachers and contributing to the development of the communities.

Among dignitaries at the commissioning were a former Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State, His Lordship Justice Godwin Abraham, former members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Saturday Akpan and Hon. Sunday Okoko and the pioneer Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Barr. Idongesit Umoh.

Others included the immediate past APC State Vice Chairman, Dr Amadu Attai, former council chairmen, Hon. Godwin Inyieng, PhD, Hon. Uko Idiong, Elder Nseobong Umanah and Dr Effiong Udongwo, as well as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Akrosamic Investment Limited, Elder Samuel Akpan, and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of PikkMaster Nig. Ltd.

Also present were former vice chairmen, Dr Nsikak Udoibe, Hon. Okokon Etiebet and Hon. Umakiso Victor Umoh, former councillors, Hon. Sunday Demas, Hon. Amos Udom, Hon. Nkereuwem Udofia and Hon. Ufokobong Owen, Hon. Imo Ukpe, Hon. Cassidy Udom, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Obosi and Mr Jacob Inyang, among other political leaders and stakeholders.

The commissioning is part of Idem’s ongoing constituency interventions in education infrastructure across Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency.
