The West African Examinations Council has extended the registration deadline for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, Second Series, popularly known as WAEC GCE.
The council announced that candidates now have until Friday, August 28, 2026, to complete their registration. The extension was announced on Saturday through WAEC Nigeria’s official social media platform.
WAEC urged prospective candidates who are yet to register to take advantage of the additional time and complete the registration process before the new deadline.
The examination is designed for candidates who are not enrolled in regular secondary schools, as well as individuals seeking to obtain or improve their O’Level results.
According to the council, the 2026 Second Series examination will be conducted entirely as a Computer-Based Examination (CBE).
The registration fee remains N37,000, while the examination is scheduled to take place between September and October 2026.
WAEC also advised candidates to visit the nearest WAEC office in their respective states to confirm available examination towns before completing their registration.
Registration for the examination commenced on May 4, 2026, while the latest extension supersedes the earlier deadline of July 31.
